This authentic Amish cabin was originally built in 1860s Ohio and brought to its current location in 2002. The cabin is very simple with a 10-foot by 14-foot indoor space with a sleeping loft, a new full private bathroom, wifi, an electric heater is 4000 watts, a comfy queen size bed, towels, and sheets provided. The cabin has 5 windows with screens, 2 fans, a small fridge, an induction cooktop with pots, and pans, a hot outdoor shower during the warmer months, too, and filtered well water. The cabin is just 11 minutes from AVL (Uber does come to the cabin).
The rustic cabin has a main living space, a loft, and a front porch. Enjoy tree-top views and lots of singing birds. Private, covered porch with rockers, kitchenette with table, hammock, and fire pit/grill. Swannanoa is halfway between Black Mountain (2 new breweries) and Asheville (24 plus breweries). The cabin has a free-standing private full bathroom, covered porch, hose at the cabin for fresh/filtered water, wifi, electricity, electric heater, and a small refrigerator. Induction hotplate (no stove/oven), daybed for naps, outside fire pit available, and a small grill. Dedicated parking space with easy egress, private setting.
The cabin has quiet, private, 180-degree views a lot of the year, close to downtown Asheville and Black Mountain (6 minutes). Warren Wilson College is just over the highway and is great for hiking along the Swannanoa River. Black Mountain has two breweries now and Asheville has too many to count. Swannanoa has one cool restaurant, an Ingles, and several coffee shops. You must have a car, the cabin is just 11 minutes to downtown Asheville, and 6 minutes to Black Mountain. Lone Wolf is off of the Buckeye Cove area which is a 3-mile circle and good for biking/running. Uber is available in the area. The closest hike is an easy one along the Swannanoa river (about l.5 miles from the cabin).
This is a comfortable, charming cabin. No pets are allowed at the cabin. There are chickens (please do not feed them). You should plan to bring some dry wood for the fire pit, the owners can provide kindling and some very thick logs. Not safe for children under 12 years old. The entire cabin and full bathroom are yours for the weekend. Swannanoa may not be as popular as other cities in the United States, but don’t let that fool you. Swannanoa is a smaller but beautiful upcoming tourist destination that is worth a visit. You will be surprised by some of the unique things to do and places you can explore at this hidden destination.
